My hiking history

My hiking journey began in 2017 as a way to get out of the house, see more, do more and live life to the fullest. Yep, insert every social media 'get-your-shit-together' cliche here. But it worked. I signed my husband and I up for a trek to Everest Base Camp in 6 months time. No excuses - we had to learn this hiking business pronto because like it or not, we had a mountain to climb.


The training began in earnest - and we loved it. Well, he did. My early hikes were an amalgamation of complaints. My feet hurt. My bag was heavy. It was too hot. My hands were cold. It was too muddy. Man - you name it, I found a way to complain about it. But ever so slowly as my fitness improved, so did my ability to enjoy the surroundings. My bag began to feel lighter for longer, my feet ached less, my breathlessness lessened. I began to love it too.


We roped in friends and family to help us train and created a list of hikes to try. That list will never be completed, but here's our progress so far:
